PANEER MASALA

INGREDIENTS

  • Paneer/cottage cheese – 200gm
  • Onions – one medium sized (finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes – 2 medium-sized ( finely chopped)
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 1tbsp
  • Green chillies – 3-4
  • Turmeric powder – 1tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1tbsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1tsp
  • Chick pea flour/ Besan – 1tbsp
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1tsp
  • Dry fenugreek leaves/ Kasuri methi -1tbsp
  • Black pepper powder – 1tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1tsp
  • Green chillies – 4-5
  • Cooking oil -2tbsp
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Salt to taste

PROCEDURE

  • Cut the paneer in cubes and mix salt, turmeric powder(1/4tsp), red chilli powder (1/4 tsp)& black pepper powder (1/4tsp) with dash of water.Leave it for 20 minutes.

  • Shallow fry the marinated paneer in medium flame.

  • In same wok, add oil. let the oil heat properly.
  • Add chopped onions,green chillies and saute till onions turn light brown in colour.Add ginger-garlic paste & saute till raw aroma disappears.

  • Now goes chopped tomatoes,saute for a minute in medium flame.

  • Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder,dry fenugreek leaves, coriander powder & gram flour.Saute for a minute.

  • Now add little water, saute for 5 minutes in low flame.
  • Add around 1.5 medium-sized cup of water and let it boil.
  • As boil comes,lower the flame and add fried paneer,salt & fresh chopped coriander leaves.

  • Stew it for 10 minutes in low flame.

  • After 10 minutes add garam masala and stew for 2 minutes more.
  • Dish is ready.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
